The company's origins stretch back to 1810 with the manufacture of bricks for construction using clay from Vaudreuille quarries (Carrières de Vaudreuille). This business lasted right through to the late 1950s.

In 1960, following the discovery of significant raw silico-alumina deposits in these quarries, the company started to specialise in the manufacture of refractory products intended for various industries and the housing sector.

Since then, FONTES REFRACTORIES has worked continuously to develop its expertise. The quality control systems at each stage in the manufacturing process provide a guarantee of the level of quality required by its customers.
